What a trainee does

  • Takes part in daily farm work
  • Works with and maintains agricultural machinery
  • Works in gardens, fields and vineyards
  • Prepares and treats the soil
  • Plants seeds, grass and other plants
  • Applies nutrients and keeps moisture levels right
  • Carries out pest, disease and weed control to health and hygiene standards
  • Reads technical documentation in a foreign language

Equestrian & grooming · on request

  • Feeds and waters the horses
  • Mucks out stables and replaces bedding
  • Cleans saddles, bridles and other tack
  • Brushes, cleans and clips the horses' coats
  • Exercises the horses
  • Watches for changes in a horse's condition and reports them
  • Treats minor wounds and follows the vet's instructions

Questions about this sector

From 10 days to 1 year, all year round, like every BragaMob placement.

A company tutor at the host organisation guides the daily work; a BragaMob mobility coordinator stays in contact with the trainee, the tutor and the school.

The working language is English; participants pick up basic Portuguese during the stay.

On the last day the company tutor runs a theoretical and practical assessment, which is recorded. The participant receives the Europass Mobility and a Certificate of Attendance, and your school decides how the results are recognised.
