A five-day course on stress in education: its symptoms and causes in students, its positive and negative effects, and healthy ways to cope. It covers self-confidence, anxiety and anger control, conflict management and stress management models, with practical techniques teachers can use with students and for themselves.

- Icebreakers and introduction to the course
- What stress is; joy of life and healthy living
Day 2Symptoms, causes and the role of the coach
- Cognitive, emotional, physical and behavioural symptoms of stress in students
- The role of the coach: reframing triggers, stopping rumination, changing self-talk
- Building coping resources and resilience; preventing burnout
- Positive and negative effects of stress; the optimal level and the Yerkes-Dodson law
Day 3Coping with the negative effects
- Unhealthy ways of coping and the damage they cause in the long run
- Personality traits that make stress harder to deal with
- Stress-related psychosomatic problems
Day 4Confidence, anxiety and anger
- Self-confidence, self-efficacy and self-esteem; winning and losing
- Stress and anxiety: causes, techniques and when to seek help
- Relaxation, meditation and the power of humour
- Conflict resolution and dealing with difficult people
- Anger control: practical steps
Day 5Communication and stress management models
- Effective communication and persuasion under stress
- Stress management models: the transactional model and the health realisation model
- Stress management techniques
